It truly does pay to search and apply for scholarships! There are tons of scholarships to search on the internet. Below are just a few to help get you started. Remember, you should never pay to apply for a scholarship.

Local Scholarships

Then click the scholarship application link to complete the form.  You will need to open it up in Kami.  Please type out the application and print it.  Local scholarship deadline is March 25, 2022Make sure to download the application and save the scholarship form before typing any information on it.  Once completed, print it out and paperclip all required documents.

Kansas and Regional Scholarships

Click the link below to learn about a few Kansas and Regional Scholarships that are available.

There are two Sterling High School scholarships on the South Central Community Foundation website.  The scholarship deadline for these are March 15th.  If you would like to apply for the Jacob Oden Scholarship or Tony Renollet Scholarship, please click this link:  South Central Foundation Scholarships

The Autobiography Scholarship Fund – the Autobiography is a scholarship fund created by songwriter Nicolle Galyon, a 2002 alum of Sterling High School.  The scholarship will be granted annually to one graduate of SHS who is committed to telling a great story with their life.  The Autobiography honors the combination of a student’s struggle, effort, perserverance, resilience, honesty and passion.  Selection of recipient will be made by a committee, including Galyon.  The scholarship is intended to be a one-time award, with no plans for renewal.  March 31, 2022 is the deadline.  The Autobiography Scholarship Fund

Kansas Board of Regent Scholarships & Grants

The Kansas Board of Regents awards various scholarships to Kansas residents seeking to pursue undergraduate and graduate college educations at in-state institutions.

RUDD Foundation Scholarship – The Rudd Scholarship is a competitive, 4-year award designed to pay any remaining costs associated with tuition and fees, books and supplies, and room and board after accounting for all other grants, scholarships and financial awards.  The application will open for the class of 2023 October 10, 2022.  

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  2. Must complete the FAFSA and be Pell-eligible.
  3. Enroll full-time in the Fall 2020.
  4. Must be admitted and will attend either Emporia State, Fort Hays State, or Wichita State University.

Hagan Scholarship – the Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship.  The scholarship is designed to help recipients graduate college debt free.  Recipients must graduate from a public high school located in a county in the United States having fewer than 50,000 residents.  The scholarship provides up to $6,000 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters.  Application Deadline:  December 1, 2021.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1.  Must have a 3.75 GPA or higher.
  2. Must score 24 or higher on the ACT.
  3. Must complete the FAFSA and EFC must be less than $6,500.

Financial aid can help you afford college! In fact, most full-time college students receive some type of financial aid. While financial aid might help reduce the cost, remember college is NOT FREE!
